Top 7 Places to Visit in Mangaluru

352 km from the Karnataka capital is this port city Mangaluru (Mangalore). The place is surrounded by the sceneric mountains, relegious sites and the arabian sea. One thing I recommend you to try here is cashew based cusines, and fish dishes.



 1.Tannirbhavi Beach

The Tannirbhavi Beach is more a secluded beach of Mangalore. The pine trees along the beach add to the beauty of this place. The sunset view from here is beautiful too!

One can get here by road or by taking the transport ship from sultan battery.




2. Panambur Beach

Panambur beach is famous for its water sports. There are jet ski rides, camel rides for kids, boating, Dolphin viewing, and much more for you to explore. As it is famous beach of mangalore try to avoid weekends. Note: The water sports will be available only during summer season.


3. Sultan Battery

Sultan Battery is a historic place. Tippu sultan constructed this watchtower to monitor activity into the Gurpur River. You also can  take the ferry ride to Tannirbhavi beach from here.

4. Pilikula Nisarga dhama

Pilikula Nisarga dhama is a initiative by District Administration of Dakshina Kannada to boost the tourism. This theme park spreads over an area of 370 acres, which includes Pilikula lake, garden, zoo and Hertiage Village.
  • Holiday: Monday 
  • Hours: 9.30 am to 5.30 pm 
5. Sammilan Shetty's Butterfly Park

The park was started by a young nature lover Sammilan Shetty in the year 2011. As of now the park is house to more than 100 butterfly species. The park hosts a power point show and lecture. Later, you can walk through the park and watch the butterflies in their natural habitat.

  • Open: Only on Sunday's
  • Best period to visit: June to November

6. NITK Lighthouse

A light house located near the Surathkal beach. The beach is less crowded compared to others. You need to climb 100 steps to reach the top. The lighthouse provides amazing view of the sealine. One can also enjoy the sunset view.
  • Closes by: 5pm 
  • Cost: 10Rupee
