Weekend trip - Bangalore to Yellapur | Weekend Getaway

What is more relaxing than a two day trip to the land of forest and water falls? Yellapur is a place in Uttara Kannada district which has beautiful waterfalls within a span of 100 km. You need to walk amidst of jungle to reach some of these falls! Don't panic, the trek is not long.

I guess this is the best weekend getaway from your hectic life at Bangalore.

With no more wasting of time, first let's see the places to visit near Yellapur and then the best travel plans.

Places to visit near Yellapur:

1. Sathodi Falls

22 Km west of Yellapur is this magnificent water falls. A 17 km ride from Yellapur and then on you need to trek for 5 to 6 km. The distance of trek depends on the season; A longer trek in Rainy season.

The water fall is not of any river, it is formed by various unnamed streams which finally flow into the backwaters of  Kodasalli Dam, then to the Kali river.

2. Magod Falls

Plan 3- (Bike Trip)

My favourite plan ;-). Take your ride out and drive to Hubli then to Yellapur and explore the nature. No much pre-planning is required, but seek the advise of locals before deviating from Yellapur.

Guidelines:

  • The roads are slippery, proceed with caution.
  • No food or help is available once you leave Yellapur
  • Start your day early in the morning
  • Just to be on safer side come back to Yellapur by 5:30 pm, Sunset Point is worth taking the risk.
  • Keep your eyes open and look out at each signboard.
  • Ideally, the time after the rains is the best time to visit. (i.e the month of October)

Final Comments:

Yellapur - a land of water falls is a beautiful place, a heaven for nature lovers. Don't spoil the nature and keep the place clean.
