Gangtok the capital of Sikkim State, is a Buddhist Pilgrimage and trekking centre. After gaining independence from British in 1947, Sikkim choose to stay as an independent monarchy. Later in 1975 the Sikkim became a part of integral India.

Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean. - by John Muir

Well Sikkim is such place where you are close to Nature. A trek to the beautiful Mountain ranges covered in white, and a visit to the Buddhist Shrines are enough to wash your spirit clean.

Well, A stay of week in woods might change your life. Who knows you might turn yourself into a poet?
Nathu La is a mountain pass in the Himalayas connecting Sikkim with China's Tibet Autonomous Region. The Pass is guarded by our Brave Indian Army in such extreme conditions without the modern tools and gears. The pass is not always open so plan your trip in advance.

On the way to Nathu La pass is a beautiful snow covered Tsomgo Lake. The Lake is clean and well maintained by Indian Army. A three hour journey from Gangtok city and you will be in this place. You can ride a Yak or just walk up to the lake.

Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial Temple A religious temple at a 13000ft above sea level and the place also offers great views. There is also a cafe "13K Cafe". Needless to say that the place is clean, and well maintained.

Hanuman Tok A Heavenly place with the Hanuman temple at the top of mountain. The Tok(Point) hosts awesome view of Gangtok city. Well you can feel the energy of the place. An another awesome place to visit in Gangtok.

Ganesh Tok - The entrance reminds me of the Japanese Shrines; it appears to be pretty much similar to the one in Japan. Yet an another place which features breathtaking view of Gangtok city. A must visit place.

Gangtok Ropeway This line takes you above the centre of the Gangtok city and offers the bird view of the city and surrounding nature. It cost you about 110 Rupees and the one way trip lasts for around 15 min. Check this video out:

Seven Sister Waterfall The name itself explains that there are seven waterfalls, perhaps in rainy and winter season and not in summers. The water is clean and sparkling a best place to take some photos. Photography lovers will surely love this place. It is on the way from Darjeeling to Gangtok, best place to relax and enjoy the picturesque scene.

Best Time to visit Gangtok: The temperature in winter averages 4 degree Celsius and this season provides great views of the valley. But the roads and the sightseeing spots can be closed due to bad weather. The February to April is the best time to visit.
